Bindy is a blue eyed, happy, 8 year old boy. He is a quadruplet, has two brothers and one sisters who are all his greatest fans. He suffers with being shunt dependent from a very serious inter ventricular hemorrhage in his brain shortly after he was born.. He is shunt dependent and g-tube dependent. He is non ambulatory and nonverbal.
What makes his condition unique is the fact that his peritoneal cavity cannot tolerate his CSF and will to absorb the fluid, 98% of all shunt kids don’t have this issue. On May 10th, he suffered a minor head injury from a fall at school and it seemed to cause a shunt malfunction. As of September 20th he has had his 6th shunt revision since that day. Sadly the Neurosurgeons are running out of options for his shunt placement as the only place they can locate his shunt where the fluid needs to drain are very high risk, exotic shunt placements including his heart, (requiring open heart surgery) and his gall bladder. He has Cerebral Palsy, right sided hemiplegia, chronic lung disease and pulmonary hypertension making him oxygen dependent. He was in the hospital for the first 8 months of his life and has had 12 Life Flights.
He and his brothers and sisters have a special bond, they love him very much. He loves to watch them doing age appropriate activities that he is unable to do like reading, skateboarding, riding his bike, and running. He has a hilarious sense of humor and loves to play with those who care for him. He claps is hands when he is happy, and has a smile that lights up a room, wherever he goes people love to be around his sweet spirit.
Along with his toy electric guitar, and his Learning Journey musical toys, he loves his toy Bullseye from Toy Story, he is a little cowboy at heart and enjoyed living on a ranch before having to move to the Salt Lake area due to his medical necessities. His favorite song is Home on the Range, he loves riding horses and ATV rides. He loves Spanish and especially loves to watch Barney in Spanish and loves it when his lady friends speak Spanish to him. He is in the 3rd grade Kauri Sue Hamilton and loves to swim there. He loves fast small cars, Lady Gaga and Reggae Music and driving by big trucks on the freeway.
